EUI Alumni Excutive Commitee Elections: MY PROGRAMME

  • Pursue the organisation of thematic conferences and seminars, building on the experience of the past six years but also on the dynamism of local chapters (like the conference on the Stability and Growth Pact and on the future of EMU organisedd in London, at the LSE).
  • Organise yearly book presentations by alumni (as in 2005);
  • Maintain the recently created “Career Development Subcommittee” and further develop it, namely also to academic jobs both for current researchers and other alumni, with the ORGANIZATION OF ONE JOB-EVENT each year;
  • Continue with the Alumni Prize for the best Interdisciplinary thesis;
  • Maintain the donation of all AA fees to the Alumni Research Grant;
  • PROMOTING INITIATIVES OF EUI ALUMNI CHAPTERS AROUND THE WORLD, namely through the organisation of seminars and conferences and get-togethers as done for instance in London.
  • PROMOTING THE PUBLICATION OF THE EUI ALUMNI JOURNAL "EUROPE AT LARGE", for which I am already responsible within the respective subcommittee.
  • KEEPING THE EUI ALUMNI WEB-PAGE UPDATED, namely the section on alumni recent work;
  • PROVIDING EUI ALUMNI WIH ACCESS TO EUI LIBRARY as part of E-MAIL ACCOUNT AND OTHER SERVICES package UNDER ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION;

Elections for a new EUI Alumni Executive Committee (EC)

We believe that we have helped the AA to move on and to accompany the growth of the EUI in numbers, breadth and excellence. However, the AA now needs a renewed impetus and new people to come forward and contribute. Following up on recommendations by our General Assembly, we will broaden the elections by implementing e-voting, allowing for candidates to present themselves online and voters with a valid AA card to vote electronically.
Prepare to vote electronically for a new EC!As we had already announced in the previous EUI newsletter, valid AA membership cards will automatically give alumni the right to vote electronically for a new Executive Committee. Alumni who do not make use of their right to vote electronically in the voting period (15-22 September) may still do so in the upcoming General Assembly of October 2008. If you do not have a valid AA membership card make sure you get one ASAP (you can do it online).

The electronic voting period will run from 15 through 22 September 2008. Should there be fewer than 5 candidates for the Executive Committee, the Electoral subcommittee may consider re-opening the electoral process at the General Assembly in order to fill in the vacant positions.The AA Electoral Subcommittee that will supervise the entire procedure with the help of the Academic Service comprises Donatella Della Porta (Chair), Peter Mair and Annette Bongardt.

Prepare to run for member of a new EC!Candidates for the EC Committee must put their candidature forward until 1 September 2008 at the very latest. Candidates can (are encouraged to) send to the Electoral Subcommittee (alumni email account, c/o Judith Przyrowski) a one-page PDF document with their electoral programme. By 8 September 2008 the list of properly identified candidates will be made available online on the AA website, together with their electoral programme. All candidates should check the webpage and make sure their act of candidature is complete and confirmed by and/or talk to Judith Przyrowski, EUI Alumni Officer at the Academic Service
